The God Box is Limo´s new Psych-pop baby. Born out of a cancelled album by Discolor as it seemed to go in a whole different songbased direction The God Box mix all the classic Psych-Pop ingredients: Strange lyrics, children like melodies, sitar, Mellotron, baroque trumpets and a lush production style even with lo-fi equipment. Lothar Gärtner of the Sireena Records label was so enthusiased while listening to The God Box that he immediately founded a new label for the release of “Psymphonettes” by The God Box: Phantasmagoria. With the help of the drummers Ufo & Haffi and some portions by Leonidas (double bass) and Theresa L (voice) “Psymphonettes” made a fine impact on the psych press. The God Box new and 2nd album „Aaahh!“ even extends the sonic regions that “Psymphonettes” has filled. Split into the two sections “Innocence/Experience” you will find the same childlike fairytale-popsyke style like on “Psymphonettes” on the “Innocence” part. While “Experience” is a whole other story in the God Box psych-story. Here the tracks leave their happy-vocals-sing-a-long behind for a more experimental orchestral and darker touch of musics of almost epic size. Ahhh! Listen! There will be certainly another God Box album!

“Es muss ein ganz inniger, leidenschaftlicher Kuss der Muse gewesen sein, der da der deutschen Band The God Box widerfahren ist. Das Debütalbum „Psymphonettes“ klingt so beseelt, naiv-unschuldig psychedelisch, dass man meinen könnte, die Band hat die lang gesuchte Weltformel gefunden, um mit sich selbst, der Umwelt und dem ganzen Planeten in wohligem Einklang zu leben. 14 Songs sind so entstanden, allesamt verträumt, absolut glücklich wirkend, den Geist für das große Hier und Jetzt öffnend. Sitar und Mellotron in Hülle und Fülle, ätherischer Gesang, auch leicht knarrende E-Gitarren, eingerahmt von Cembalo und gesampelten Flöten, Klarinetten und Trompeten, meist einfache, aber doch vorwärtspushende Percussion, unterschwellige Orgeln. Es ist niemals schrill-schillernd-verrückt, es ist stets hypnotisierend, durch eingängige Melodien verzaubernd. Gitarrensoli, seltene Drumloops, verzerrte Frauenstimmen, Vogelgezwitscher sind weitere Bestandteile dieser unendlich erscheinenden Spielwiese. Nun, so ganz neu sind The God Box nicht, denn Sänger und Gitarrist ist/war Chef der überaus talentierten Nürnberger Psych-Band The Shiny Gnomes. Und ist denn auch der letzte Ton von „Psymphonettes“ erklungen, so sieht die Realität tatsächlich ein klein wenig rosiger aus“. (Eclipsed)
